4th year B Arch students took a field trip to the LinkedIn Tower at 222 2nd Street.
The direct experience of visiting the construction site was incredibly helpful on many levels – understanding of scale, integration and coordination among building systems, constructability and sequence. The presentation by Turner (contractor) was especially fascinating. The students appreciated hearing about the challenges and opportunities of globally sourcing building materials and technologies. The commitment by Tishman Speyer (owner) in providing a truly welcoming public space (POPOS: Privately Owned Public Open Spaces) was inspiring.
It was a great opportunity to hear from the owner, the architect, and the contractor in the same room speaking about positive collaboration.
